How To Make DIY Christmas Gift: Precious Stone Soap

The Christmas season is here! A handmade soap could be a thoughtful gift from you to your friends and family. Today’s recipe will be for the precious stone soap. 
Firstly, you will need Soaplab’s handmade transparent soap base. It will act a moisturizer and cleanser. Next add orange juice and frankincense fragrance oils for a sweet and citrusy aroma. 
To get into the Christmas spirits, add green and synstar red mica, giving your soap the signature Christmas red and green. Have yourself a very merry Christmas!

Duration:

Preparation Time : 30 minutes
Total Time : 60 minutes 

Ingredients: (makes 20 x 25g Soap) 

  1. 500g SoapLab’s Transparent Soap Base 
  2. 10g Frankincense Essential Oil  
  3. 5g Orange Juice Fragrance Oil 
  4. 5g Synstar Red Mica
  5. 5g Green Mica 
  6. 5g Sparkle Silver Mica 
  7. 30g Glycerin 
  8. 25 - 30 sprays of Rubbing Alcohol

Equipments You Will Need:

  1. Heat Resistant Containers
  2. Spatula/ Stirrer (Can Also be kitchen Spoon)
  3. Weighing Scale (Digital)
  4. Heater (Induction cooker/ double boiler / microwave)

How to Make 

Visual Guide  

  1. First, prepare your Soap Base. Cut 500g of SoapLab’s Transparent Soap Base into little cubes, the smaller the cubes the faster it will melt. 

  2. Place the cubes in a microwavable container. Place container in the microwave. Melt them at 20 seconds interval. Check during each intervals, this is to avoid your soap from getting burnt. 

  3. Once soap base is ready and melted, add in 5g of Orange Juice Fragrance Oil into the melted soap base. Use a pipette for ease measuring & dispensing.

  4. Next, add in Frankincense Essential Oil into the mixture. Again, use a pipette if necessary.

  5. Add in premixed Sparkle Silver into the mixing container. Then, mix everything with a spatula. 

  6. Next, split soap mixture into two equal parts. Pour slowly as soap might still be warm at this point. 

  7. Add in Green Mica that  has been diluted with some glycerin into container 1. Do not mix, slowly swirl container to allow mica to be slightly dispersed in soap. 

  8. Next, add in premixed Synstar Red Mica in soap mixture in container 2. Again, do not mix, just swirl. 

  9. Next, grab your molds and Rubbing Alcohol. Spray the mold with alcohol in order to provide a sterile surface, ideal for your solid soap to sit in. Pour soap mixture from both containers into their respective mold then spray again with rubbing alcohol to remove bubbles. 

  10. Once harden, remove soap from mold like so. 

  11. Cut soap into 5 equal parts using a normal kitchen knife. Then, take one part and cut it in half. 

  12. Cut soap at an angel repeatedly. The more irregular it gets, the better. 

  13. Repeat steps 8 to 10 with the other block of soap to get a different colour of crystal soap. Then soap is ready to use (:

  3. Make sure all your utensils and work surface is clean and sterilise as dirty area and utensils can reduce shelf life of scrub
  4. Do not add in any Fresh ingredients that can spoil easily as this will reduce the shelf life of product unless specified in recipe. Click here to find out more
  5. If applying on face, avoid citrus based or sandalwood essential oil as Malaysian weather will cause your skin to be easily sun burnt. Wear sun protection if add these Essential oils.
